FRONT ROYAL - Saturday afternoon's Northwestern District softball tournament semifinal game didn't start well for second-seeded Sherando, as James Wood catcher Jessy Shipman lashed Courtney Reid's first pitch for a double into the left-center gap.
With the regular season schedule out of the way and a Northwestern District regular season baseball title firmly in hand, Sherando can now turn its attention to the postseason.

STEPHENS CITY -- There were more unearned than earned runs in the game as the underdog host Millbrook Pioneers moved out to a six-run lead after five innings against the Sherando and held on after a furious Warriors' late innings rally to record the final out with the based loaded and eke out a 6-5 win Wednesday afternoon in Northwestern District softball action.
LURAY -- Stonewall Jackson's Colton Harlow delivered a strong all-around effort to lead the Generals to a 10-1 baseball win over homestanding Luray in Shenandoah District action on Wednesday
STEPHENS CITY -- Sherando pitcher Courtney Reid looked at catcher Haley Miles and gave her a message with the Warriors game on the line against James Wood.
FRONT ROYAL -- Maddie Deason had two goals and an assist to lead Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy to a 6-0 victory over Randolph-Macon Academy in girls soccer action on Monday.
WINCHESTER -- The pressure was on for the Sherando girls 4x400 relay quartet as they warmed up in the infield, 6.25 points behind first place National Cathedral School (DC) , among the 20 schools entered in Saturday's 45th H. Brian Landes Apple Blossom Track and Field Invitational, hosted by James Wood.
