STEPHENS CITY -- When he was pulled from Saturday's Northwestern District baseball semifinal with Skyline following a frustrating sixth inning at-bat ending with a strikeout and a tossed batting helmet in the dugout, Sherando senior catcher Derek Reid had to wonder if he would get a chance to redeem himself.
STEPHENS CITY -- James Wood's girls soccer team got its third straight victory on Thursday, defeating Skyline 2-1 in the Northwestern District Tournament play-in game.
STEPHENS CITY -- Brittini Dennis tallied a pair of goals and added an assist to lead host Sherando to an 8-0 girls soccer victory over Northwestern District rival Skyline on Monday.
FRONT ROYAL -- Sherando senior pitcher Zach Carney was bothered about giving up three seventh-inning runs in relief during a victory over Handley on Thursday night, so some changes were made.
WINCHESTER -- Sean Goodson knew the Skyline hitters would struggle against his curveball. In his last appearance against the Hawks, Goodson tossed six solid innings and earned the win, thanks to a sharp curveball that left hitters off balance.
FRONT ROYAL -- For the last six years, girls tennis hasn't been a strong sport in Warren County. However, on Thursday Warren County and Skyline showcased just how far both programs have come.
FRONT ROYAL -- When rivals Warren County and Skyline high schools get together on the softball diamond, there's a good chance the game's going to be close and low-scoring.
FRONT ROYAL -- The Warren County Wildcats boys tennis team took the short ride to Skyline and swept their cross-county rival, the Skyline Hawks, 9-0, in a non-district match on Thursday afternoon.
STEPHENS CITY -- When there's someone on first base, Derek Reid is watching. He's crouched down behind the plate, lurking just 90 feet away, studying the runner's every move.
FRONT ROYAL -- Getting the last out had the Handley baseball team jumping for joy. When Skyline's Mike Accettullo was retired on his grounder to short, only then could the Judges breathe a collective sigh of relief.
FRONT ROYAL -- The question wasn't which pitcher would find success on the mound. All season long, both Skyline's Sara Beamer and Warren County's Nicole King have been nothing short of dominant, with King's record standing at 4-1 and Beamer's a perfect 3-0.
FRONT ROYAL -- The cross-county rivalry heated up quickly when Warren County hosted Skyline in girls soccer on Wednesday night. Both teams battled fiercely in a physical matchup that came down to the final minutes of regulation.
FRONT ROYAL -- Something wasn't right about Logan McCaughan's pitching mechanics, and Luray baseball coach Steve Griffith aimed to change that before the Bulldogs played a meaningful game.
FRONT ROYAL -- Two Broadway pitchers tossed a combined no-hitter, keeping Skyline grounded, in taking a 14-1 non-district victory in the baseball season opener for both teams on Tuesday evening at Bing Crosby Stadium.
