FRONT ROYAL -- Warren County still remembers what happened last season. The results on the field and the final record certainly warrant a season to forget, but the Wildcats are letting 2009's disappointing campaign linger.
WARRENTON -- The first Evergreen District softball tournament was certainly a memorable one and if it is a sign of the future, the district will have fierce competition for some time to come.
WINCHESTER -- Katie Gordon and Taryn Burke were both a little under the weather on Tuesday. However, the Handley seniors didn't let that affect the outcome of their matches.
FRONT ROYAL -- Players call it a "slap." It sounds more like a violent occurrence than a softball move, but for Warren County's Ariel Asher, it's her specialty.
FRONT ROYAL -- The first two and half innings of the Evergreen District tournament play-in game at Bing Crosby Stadium on Monday were hardly indicative of the final four and half innings, and because of it, Warren County's early distress was replaced by the thrill of a 5-2 win over Liberty.
FRONT ROYAL -- Senior striker Robin Toledo recorded a hat trick with three goals as host Warren County knocked off fifth-seeded Liberty 3-2 in the Evergreen District boys soccer tournament play-in game on Monday.
FRONT ROYAL -- For the last six years, girls tennis hasn't been a strong sport in Warren County. However, on Thursday Warren County and Skyline showcased just how far both programs have come.
FRONT ROYAL -- When rivals Warren County and Skyline high schools get together on the softball diamond, there's a good chance the game's going to be close and low-scoring.
FRONT ROYAL -- The Warren County Wildcats boys tennis team took the short ride to Skyline and swept their cross-county rival, the Skyline Hawks, 9-0, in a non-district match on Thursday afternoon.
FRONT ROYAL -- Carol Ashley looked at the banners for district and regional accomplishments hanging in the Warren County gym and noticed something was missing.
FRONT ROYAL -- Page County's Kori Jenkins smashed a triple to right-center field that scored Kristy McDaniel for the go-ahead run to end a marathon 10-inning pitchers' duel and deliver a 4-2 win against Warren County on Monday.
FRONT ROYAL -- Resiliency and determination resulted in a win as Warren County handed Page County its fifth consecutive loss in baseball action on Monday night.
FRONT ROYAL -- The question wasn't which pitcher would find success on the mound. All season long, both Skyline's Sara Beamer and Warren County's Nicole King have been nothing short of dominant, with King's record standing at 4-1 and Beamer's a perfect 3-0.
FRONT ROYAL -- The cross-county rivalry heated up quickly when Warren County hosted Skyline in girls soccer on Wednesday night. Both teams battled fiercely in a physical matchup that came down to the final minutes of regulation.

FRONT ROYAL -- The Clarke County Eagles needed only one hit to win their second game in two days, ending the Warren County Wildcats' season-opening streak of three shutouts, with a 2-1 victory in a non-district softball game on Wednesday night.
FRONT ROYAL -- Clarke County came into Wildcat Stadium and soared away with a victory over host Warren County on Wednesday night. The Eagles jumped ahead early and used a stingy defense to keep the Wildcats scoreless until stoppage time during the second half in a 4-1 win.
BERRYVILLE -- Despite registering a dominating 3-0 shutout of Warren County on Wednesday, Clarke County's girls soccer team is far from satisfied. The Eagles took 29 shots against the Wildcats' defense and were frustrated at their lack of success scoring.
FRONT ROYAL -- It doesn't matter what she throws. Nicole King can't fool Taylor Bass. Whether it's a quick fastball, a teasing curveball or an always tricky screwball, Bass can read where the pitch is going to land.
NOKESVILLE -- Marty Haley didn't want to leave the court.
The final buzzer had sounded, but the Warren County senior refused to leave. His team's season was finished, thanks to a 56-47 defeat at the hands of Kettle Run.
NOKESVILLE -- Liberty opened up the Evergreen District tournament final on Saturday with a 17-3 run against Warren County and the Wildcats were never able to recover, losing to the Eagles 69-54.
BEALETON -- Fourth-seeded Warren County roared back in the fourth quarter to topple top seed Fauquier 55-49 in the Evergreen District boys basketball tournament semifinals on Thursday night.
FRONT ROYAL -- For much of Saturday's non-district boys basketball game with visiting Warren County, the Skyline senior duo of Cliff Woodard and Kyle Phillips could hardly say they were having fun.
