Cold-shooting Wildcats fall short to Eagles

FRONT ROYAL -- Vernon Mathews didn't want to believe what he had just seen. Time and time again, 3-point attempts, mid-range jumpers, even open lay-ups were hoisted up, only to be rejected by an unforgiving rim. To say his team had just finished a cold shooting night would be putting it politely. At times it was baffling to see another Wildcats shot spin out of the hoop, yet after four quarters, Warren County had managed just six field goals on 39 shots, including a scoreless third quarter. Meanwhile, their opponent, Clarke County, had little trouble finding the basket, and rolled to a 61-33 win over the Wildcats on Monday night.

Wildcats excited to play Patriots

FRONT ROYAL -- When Damien Caison got home last Saturday, fresh off of helping Warren County earn its first ever win in the VHSL playoffs, there were phone messages waiting for him. On the other end of the line were people he had never met before, people who simply wanted to offer words of congratulations to him and the Wildcats. That's when Caison realized this season has meant more than just the joy of winning a few football games. After suffering through disappointing seasons in recent history, Warren County football is one game away from a shot at a regional championship and the community has taken notice.
