Donation Guidelines

• Ideal donations include long, formal gowns from 2004 to new in EXCELLENT condition and in ALL sizes and colors; purses; fancy jewelry; and wraps or shawls.
• Dresses must be dry-cleaned and on hangers.
• Dresses must be formal gowns or fancy party dresses.
• Accessories should be stylish, clean and in excellent condition.
• We cannot accept make-up, casual clothing, wedding dresses, tuxedos, or unclean garments.

This year marks the 12th anniversary of our holiday book drive. Over the past 11 years, we have collected nearly 25,000 new books that have been given as gifts to needy children and their families.

Now through Dec. 3, Daily employees will collect new books for children ages infant through teen, at our Daily Strasburg office and seven First Bank branches throughout the area. Books will then be distributed through various charitable organizations in the area in time for holiday gift-giving.

Why a new book? A new book is a gift chosen, kept and treasured. A new book tells a child, "You are valuable." A new book feels good in the hands. A new book is a prized possession. Children are more likely to learn about responsibility if they find value in their
possessions. A new book encourages reading and heightens a sense of wonder about the world around us.
