NEW MARKET — Work at the intersection of U.S. 211 east and U.S. 11 scheduled for Sunday night has been pushed back to mid-week because of inclement weather.

Rain delayed the concrete work at the intersection, according to a news release from the Virginia Department of Transportation. The intersection will instead be closed between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday, resulting in traffic detours.

Traffic heading west on U.S. 211 will need to take East Old Cross Road (Va. 1002) to U.S. 11 and turn right or left, or proceed straight to U.S. 211 west, the news release says. However, trucks need to go straight on U.S. 211 west to Interstate 81, and pick up U.S. 11 at the next interchange north or south.

Those eastbound on U.S. 211 need to take U.S. 11 to East Old Cross to U.S. 211, the release states. Vehicles on U.S. 11 heading to U.S. 211 east need to be alert for flaggers directing traffic onto U.S. 211.
