WINCHESTER Traffic flow will be a lot smoother and more cost-effective on major highways in the city and Frederick County thanks to recent signal timing improvements, Virginia Department of Transportation representatives said Monday.
Tuesday, May 13, 2008 South Street to be closed Wed. night
FRONT ROYAL South Street will be closed to through traffic beginning Wednesday night through Thursday morning for maintenance on a traffic signal.
Weather permitting, repairs to the traffic signal at Royal Plaza Shopping Center will require closing South Street from South Royal Avenue to Commerce Avenue from Wednesday at 10 p.m. until Thursday at 8 a.m., according to the town's Department of Public Works.

Interstate 81: Nighttime guardrail work. Ramp work at Exits 307 and 315 in Frederick County. Motorists should be alert for shoulder work.
Interstate 66: Bridge work with possible shoulder closings at westbound and eastbound right lane, east of Exit 6 at U.S. 340-522. Work is weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 10, 2008 Work may affect traffic next week
WINCHESTER City construction will affect the traffic pattern at intersections along Pleasant Valley Road and Jubal Early Drive starting Monday, officials said.
According to a press release issued this week, the city's contractor will be installing handicap-accessible ramps and sidewalks at each intersection. Construction is expected to last 60 days.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 U.S. 211, U.S. 11 work rescheduled
NEW MARKET Work at the intersection of U.S. 211 east and U.S. 11 scheduled for Sunday night has been pushed back to mid-week because of inclement weather.
Rain delayed the concrete work at the intersection, according to a news release from the Virginia Department of Transportation. The intersection will instead be closed between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday, resulting in traffic detours.
