Friday Night Football - week 4 (Live from the Sports Desk)

Tonight's games:
Luray 35, Strasburg 33
George Mason 7, Stonewall Jackson 6, OT
Handley 34, Fauquier 7
James Wood 43, Hedgesville 0
Broadway 31, Central 18

5:56 -- Here we go. Is everyone ready for another Friday night? We have 5 games tonight. It should be an exciting night of football. A lot of the games should be very competitive. I will try to give you as many updates as I can throughout the evening. Make sure to check out all of our gamers in tomorrow's paper as well as Jeremy Stafford's feature on SU's Mo Salih.
7:51 -- James Wood leads Hedgesville 16-0 after the first quarter. I wonder how many yards Brock Lockhart will rack up tonight? He might reach 1,000 in four games!
7:56 -- Thanks for the update schoolboard. Obviously, Jeremiah Wilson is playing. He is averaging 15 yards per carry. Just think of the dame he would do if he had 25-30 carries a game.
8:09 -- It looks like it might be quite a battle this year between Jeremiah Wilson and Brock Lockhart. Lockhart had a 46-yard touchdown run for James Wood in the first quarter. Could we possibly have 2 2,000-yard rushers this season?
8:22 -- It's now 23-0 James Wood at the half.
8:43 -- Broadway is up 14-12 on Central at the half. Matt Sherfey has thrown 2 TDs, one to Sean Semones and one to Colton Manich. Reporter Greg Brill reports there is a huge crowd at Central tonight. There's nothing like a winning team to bring the crowd out.
8:46 --By the way, JMU's band is playing at halftime, which also added to Central's crowd.
9:07 -- James Wood is up 43-0 with less than 10 minutes left. Brock Lockhart has over 200 yards rushing, which puts him around 700 yards for the season. The running clock is on. Also, David Alaniz has 2 receiving TDs for the Colonels.
9:48 -- First final of the night. James Wood wins 43-0. Lockhart finishes with 220 yards on 16 carries and 1 TD. Handley is up 28-7 at the start of the fourth quarter. Also, reportedly Harrisonburg running back Michael Holmes had 390 yards and 8 TDs in the first half. The Blue Streaks lead 56-27 over Robert E. Lee at the half. Wow!
9:58 -- Handley now leads Fauquier 34-7 in the fourth quarter.
10:03 -- Strasburg falls to Luray tonight, 35-33. Another tough one for the Rams.
10:13 -- Central falls to Broadway 31-18, despite 237 passing yards from Matt Sherfey and 3 TDs.
10:14 -- Handley wins 34-7.
10:19 -- Stonewall Jackson suffers a heartbreaking loss, 7-6 in OT, to George Mason.
