Hello, my name is Melissa. I am the summer intern for the Warren County Cooperative Extension Office. I have been asked to write a small article on life after high school regarding my health and nutrition, but to be completely honest, I have not been the best at keeping up with my health and making sure my nutrition is Number 1.
To give you a little information about myself, in hgh school I played volleyball and was a very active member in our local 4-H program. I raised livestock, and in my down time I was on the court with my travel team. At that point in my life I was getting tons of exercise and I was watching the foods I was eating, but since high school and all the activities I was once involved in are now gone, my nutritional skills have gone downward tremendously.
After gaining some weight and realizing I am not as healthy as I used to be, I have realized my lifestyle has to change. My health is way more important to me than consuming the food put in front of me or even handed out the window at that easy drive through in town. With all the stress, worry and constant juggling of life between work and school, it has finally hit me that I am not taking care of myself and need to start soon!
Being able to surround myself with the right people and also having a great FCS agent in the office where I am interning, I have been able to somewhat get on the right track! So those of you who are getting off the exercise ramp, don't get discouraged, just set a reachable goal, and anything is possible.
