What goes around, comes around!
One of the facets about my job that I love most is when I am able to pass a job lead on to an individual I have worked with. I guess you could call me a matchmaker; in my position I see lots of job postings, hear of job leads and I meet with lots of people. Being able to match someone to a job opening is extremely rewarding because not only do you inform someone of a job opportunity, you also fill them with hope.
I told Steve about a job opening he is a perfect match for. He applied and now he has an interview tomorrow! I am thrilled!
You have the ability to experience what I am talking about by passing on job leads that may not be appropriate for you, but may be a perfect fit for a job hunter you know. If you do this religiously, the job leads and karma will come back to you.
When you become known as someone who always shares and thinks of others, those people will think of you. Inevitably, one of them will wind up sending a lead your way. There's no chance you can find every relevant job lead, so this tactic enables you to build a small army of assistants who'll be your eyes and ears for those hidden job opportunities.
One of my co-workers had a great idea! Cindy suggested I add an inspirational quote to my blog posts. I like this one...
"If your ship doesn't come in, swim out to it."
- Jonathan Winters
Please let me know if you have any mottos that inspire you!
Warm regards -
