April workshop calendar

If you are new to the Northern Virginia Daily Re-Employment Tips Blog, you may be unaware of all the services the Winchester Workforce Connection has to offer, all at no charge! You do not need to be receiving unemployment benefits to take advantage of one-on-one resume consultations and re-writing services, to schedule a mock interview or attend our informative workshop series.

The following is our schedule of re-employment workshops offered in April:

Tuesday, April 5, 9 a.m.: Professional Resume Writing - Hybrid resume: Create a resume that best markets your skills & accomplishments AND Plain Text Resume Conversion: learn to save and arrange your .doc resume in plain text format. You should be using a plain text resume for automated applicant tracking software resumes!

Thursday, April 7, 4 p.m.: Computer Basics and Click and Drag. This workshop is for people who have never used a computer before. Limited to eight participants. Must pre-register by calling Wade Williams at 540-722-3415.

Tuesday, April 12. 9 a.m.: Preparing for the Interview. Learn how to effectively interview. Emphasis on behavioral interview questions AND mock behavioral interview questions with group feedback.

Friday, April 15, 9 a.m.: WIA Orientation: Learn more about career assessments, counseling, skills upgrading and training opportunities!

Monday, April 18, 10 a.m. - noon: Cynthia F. Butler, Senior Human Capital Strategist from the Assistant Secretary Office of Management will answer the most frequently asked questions concerning federal employment. Ms. Butler brings almost 30 years of federal experience to include human resources, strategic planning and professional coaching to this effort. She has worked in the Dpartments of Navy, Justice, Homeland Security and now Education. Reservations required! Call Mike Barnes at 540-535-2874.

Tuesday, April 18, 9 a.m.: Finding the Hidden Job Market - Organize Your Job Search and Seek Out the 80 Percent of Jobs That Are filled by Networking AND Marketing Yourself in a Highly Competitive Market: Strategies and tactics for marketing yourself in this competitive job market.

Tuesday, April 26, 9 a.m.: Mastering the Electronic Job Search -
Reasons to Use the Internet, Online Resumes, Job Search Engines, Networking Sites and More AND The Mature Job Seeker: If you feel your age is working against your re-employment efforts, you need to attend this workshop!
