The following is a press release from the United Way of Front Royal/Warren County

The United Way of Front Royal/Warren County is proud and pleased to announce that it has met and exceeded its 2010 Campaign goal.

This marks only the first time since 2006 that the local United Way, which serves only Warren County, has met its stated campaign goal. The United Way funds 12 local health and human service groups, and this success means that each agency will be assured of allocations which will assist them in providing the safety net of human services so essential for the citizens of Front Royal and Warren County.

"YOU did it!!!" an excited Lee Smith Osina stated. "All our neighbors here in Warren County understood the need and, despite the economy, they came through for their neighbors with flying colors. We cannot express our gratitude to everyone in Front Royal and Warren County for giving us this huge success just at the time it is most badly needed."

2010's stated goal was $95,000; currently the campaign has reached $97,842 or 102% of its goal. Pledges and additional funds will continue to trickle in during the next month and organizers are hoping to end up over $100,000.

When asked how the success was accomplished, Osina was quick to respond. "It was our volunteers...in particular Beth Waller, our 2010 Campaign Chairman, along with the rest of our Board members. They have been working OVERTIME this year and were determined to get the word out about the United Way so that our neighbors would be able to receive the services they so desperately need here in Warren County.

"It's a great feeling to assure our agencies that they WILL receive funding from us this year."

Since the goal has been met, UW organizers are hoping to allocate even more money to the agencies this year than last. "We have strived to reach this goal so that we could increase allocations to our agencies from past levels. It looks like this will actually happen this year," concluded Osina.

The United Way of Front Royal and Warren County supports 12 agencies in Front Royal and Warren County. Those agencies are: The American Red Cross, Blue Ridge Legal Services, Blue Ridge Opportunities, Boy Scouts, Community Transitional Housing Program, Concern Hotline, Front Royal Women's Resource Center, Girl Scouts, Harmony Place, Healthy Families of Warren County, House of Hope and St. Luke Community Clinic.
