Kernstown Battlefield will participate in the Civil War Weekend in the Shenandoah Valley August 16-18. Activities will include a Civil War era living history in front of the Pritchard House with Co. D 2nd Maryland Infantry, which fought at Kernstown, will be in attendance starting Friday.

Saturday: 11 a.m., Brian Daley, a docent at Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters in Winchester, will give a talk on Becoming Stonewall.

Sunday: 11 a.m., KBA docent Larry Turner will give a talk on the Artillery of the First and Second Battles of Kernstown and the Third Battle on Winchester; 1 p.m., Local author and historian Jerry Holsworth will give a talk on Civil War Tales of Winchester: Interesting Stories about Winchester’s Unsung Heroes and Victims during the Civil War.

Tours will also be available all weekend of the battlefield, 1854 Pritchard House, Museum and Artillery Annex. The park is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.  Information: 202-302-9129 or visit www.kernstownbattle.org, www.facebook.com/Kernstown.
