William Barnes, construction manager with AECOM of Newark, Delaware, walks along one of the ponds outside the Front Royal Fish Hatchery near Waterlick on Thursday. Four ponds are being reshaped and will then be lined in the first phase of a $10 million construction project. The project is funded by part of a legal settlement between the state and chemical firm of EI Du Pont de Nemours and Co. The settlement obligated the company to pay for releasing mercury into the South River, which feeds into the South Fork of the Shenandoah River.
