Democrats

Warren County Democrats will unveil their new campaign headquarters at noon Sunday at 212 E. Main St., Front Royal.

Sixth District Congressional candidate Jennifer Lewis will make an appearance and then go door to door to meet town residents.

 

Pageant

Registration to participate in the USA National Miss Rockingham pageant will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the Signal Knob Rec Center, 35 Brandy Court, Strasburg.

VECCA

7 East Gallery, a Valley Educational Center for Creative Arts partner, will hold its First Thursday event from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at 123 S. Main St., Woodstock.

September’s featured artist is Bobbi Walker, who will exhibit her show “A Moment in Time.” Refreshments served.

 

Workshop

Paula Brownlee, with Sustainability Matters, will present a workshop on herbs from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 8 at the State Arboretum at Blandy Farm in Boyce.

Participants will divide plants from Blandy’s herb garden to take home and prepare individual bottles of herb-infused vinegar.

Fundraising dinner

Middletown will close Main Street to host a farm-to-table dinner for residents to raise money for NW Works, a nonprofit that helps people with barriers to employment find meaningful work.

The annual family-style dinner will be held at 4 p.m. Sept. 9. Food will be prepared by Firefly Café & Bakery of Winchester, which provides training and job support for people with disabilities.

Robbie Limon will provide music. Tickets are $100 per person. Rain date is Sept. 16. Tickets: www.nwworks.com.

 

Contest

The Rotary Club of Winchester is accepting applications to compete in its annual apple pie baking contest to be held Sept. 15 during the Shenandoah Valley Apple Harvest Festival at the Frederick County Fairgrounds.

The contest is open to ages 12 and older. Cash prizes awarded. Entry forms and contest rules can be found at www.winchesterappleharvest.com.
