Five area women have been selected to serve as princesses in the Court of Queen Shenandoah XCI during the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, which will be held April 27 through May 6. They are:
Elizabeth Bacha is the daughter of Lyn and Jules Bacha, of Winchester. She is the granddaughter of Patricia T. Pugh, of Winchester, and the late James M. Pugh, Gertrude and Albert Bacha. A 2017 graduate of John Handley High School, she is a freshman at Marymount University majoring in criminal justice.
Taylor Benoit is the daughter of Shawn and Adam Huddleston, of Winchester, and Andrew Benoit, of Kansas City, Missouri. She is the granddaughter of Anna and Michael Cullinan, of Springfield;, Ronald Williams, of Glade Spring; Betsy and Phillip Benoit, of Appleton, Wisconsin; Beth Huddleston, of Winchester; Cindy Huddleston, of Calabash, North Carolina; and the late Lourdes Williams. A 2017 graduate of Millbrook High School, she is a freshman at Roanoke College.
Josephine Burns is the daughter of Jenny Carol Harwood Murphy, of Front Royal, and Kelly and David Burns, of Boyce. She is the granddaughter of Annette Murphy, of Charles Town, West Virginia; Ludmila Burns, of Kearneysville, West Virginia; and David M. Burns, of Charles Town. A 2017 graduate of Wakefield Country Day School, she is a freshman at Christopher Newport University majoring in biology with a pre-dental focus and minor in leadership studies.
Allegra Eyles is the daughter of Karen and William Eyles, of Millwood. She is the granddaughter of Ruth Bridgeforth, of Winchester; Marynell and Walter Eyles, of Middlebrook; and the late William Edwin Bridgeforth Jr. A 2016 graduate of Clarke County High School, she is a sophomore at James Madison University majoring in integrated science and technology with an environmental concentration and minor in geology.
Gabriella Garcia is the daughter of Catherine and Justin Bogaty, of Winchester. She is the granddaughter of Caroline Devlin, of Winchester; Bob Devlin, of Woodstock; and Della and Jim Bogaty, of Berryville. A 2017 graduate of John Handley High School, she is a freshman at the University of Mary Washington majoring in business administration.
The princesses will participate in the coronation ceremony of Queen Shenandoah XCI at John Handley High School and will ride on the queen’s float in the Grand Feature Parade.
