Shenandoah Caverns will host the ninth annual Shenandoah Uncorked from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The event will feature wine, food, crafts and a variety of activities for kids.

Jessica Sager, director of marketing for the caverns, said the size of the event is one of its selling points.

“It’s a great event because it’s small enough that you can still enjoy talking with the winemakers without being overwhelmed by the crowds, but it’s large enough to offer a great sampling of the wines Virginia has to offer,” Sager said.

For the first time, Shenandoah Uncorked will take place almost entirely indoors at the American Celebration venue. In past years, the festival had taken place at the Yellow Barn located near the caverns, but Sager said that the chilly November weather over the last couple of years was a factor in moving the event indoors.

The event will feature 14 wine vendors from around the state, including Horton Vineyards, Peaks of Otter Winery, and Bluestone Vineyards, and over 25 craft vendors, including The Yarn Room, India Imports and Rayr Findz Jewelry.

Food vendors such as Grillzilla and El Chilango Mexican Grill will also be onsite. Sager said food trucks will be outdoors, but the festival will have both indoor and outdoor eating areas.

Kids’ activities will include a magician.

Sager said this will be the first year that the caverns would team-up with the New Market Chamber of Commerce.

“For our visitors who are coming from out of town, they’ll be there to provide information on other local things to do,” she said.

Sager said IDs will be checked for those who plan to take part in the wine tastings.
