The following are some of the area events that will be held this weekend:
The Winchester Art & Music Festival will be held today and Saturday in Old Town Winchester, Handley Regional Library, Grace Lutheran Evangelical Church and World of Healing.
A cornhole tournament will be held Saturday at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in memory of Derek Okan Getz at 700 Baker Lane, Winchester.
Sign-up begins at 11 a.m. with the tournament starting at noon. Registration is $30 per team. There will also be a silent auction and bake sale.
The Kernstown Battlefield Association will host its annual Civil War Ball from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at 610 Battle Park Drive, Winchester near Creekside Station.
Music provided by the Second Virginia Calvary String Band. Tickets, which are $25 per person, are available at the Visitor’s Center or email email@example.com.
Warren County High School in Front Royal will host the Marching Wildcat Invitational marching band competition starting at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Ten marching bands from Warren County, Skyline, Strasburg, Handley, Clarke, Musselman, Spring Mills, Boonsboro, Hedgesville, Northwestern, and Montgomery Blair high schools will perform.
Tickets are $8, $6 for children under 12 and seniors and free for children under 6.
Winchester Medical Center will host a European Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 1775 N. Sector Court, Winchester.
Featured will be tastes, sights and sounds of Germany, Italy and the British Isles with traditional music, dancing, unique food and a European marketplace. Information: 540-536-4463.
The Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday in Armstrong Concert Hall, 702 University Drive, Winchester. Tickets are $12. Information: 540-665-4569.
River Valley Festival
The annual River Valley Festival will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at VFW Post 1860, 1847 N. Royal Ave., Front Royal. Featured will be pit-roasted meats, folk music, craft beer and wine.
Pro Shuckers Seafood Catering from Annapolis, Maryland, will serve up Chesapeake Bay caught seafood from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Shenandoah Downs at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds in Woodstock. Free admission.
Theatre Shenandoah will present the psychological drama “The Bad Seed” at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at 107 Center St., Edinburg.
Future performances will be held Oct. 5-7 and 12-14.

Selah Theatre Project will present August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony-Award winning play “Fences” this weekend at 400-B Kendrick Lane, Front Royal.
