Women of Strasburg Moose hosts spring bazaar

STRASBURG – Women of the Strasburg Moose Chapter 1319 are hosting their a spring bazaar at 8 a.m. Saturday to promote their mission and raise money for future charitable endeavors and events.

Pam Spiker, the incoming senior regent, remembers the importance the Women of the Moose played at her wedding over 17 years ago.

“Women hold an important role within the moose fraternity,” Spiker said. “Not only do we hold the standards high in our homes but also within our community by lending a helping hand to those in need.”

Saturday’s bazaar will include a 50/50 raffle, silent auction and over 28 vendors including local artisans selling handmade jewelry, clothing and artwork along with well-known brands like Lula Roe, Posh, Scentsy and Mary Kay.

The Strasburg chapter will be selling hot dogs, chili dogs, chips, coleslaw and drinks. Sweet treats will also be available. Prices vary.

Chapter 1319 is undergoing some leadership changes that Spiker said are refreshing.

Spiker, along with Teresa Dykes, junior regent, Mary Shull, secretary/treasurer and Maria Feathers, recorder, will be installed as the new board of officers on Sunday. On Tuesday the new committee will begin its mission of actively serving the community through charitable events throughout the year.

With over 700 active members, the oldest serving over 50 years, the Women of the Strasburg Moose provide social and educational service opportunities to members as well as sporting events and activities geared toward the entire family.

Spiker said she is looking forward to her induction on the board of officers as an opportunity to continue to expand chapter 1319.

“We’re looking to do more things with not only new members but include the women who have been members well over 50 years,” Spiker said, adding that “change is good.”

“We really pride ourselves on what we do for the community,” Spider said. “And we want to continue to grow our mission with fresh eyes and new ideas.”
