Belle Grove Plantation will hold its 20th annual Antiques Appraisal Fair this weekend.
The fair will feature expert appraiser Sandra Perry giving verbal evaluations on items that are brought in. Kristen Laise, Belle Grove executive director, said that Perry will evaluate any type of antique, from art and furniture to Civil War documents.
“[Perry] is very skilled in her knowledge of antiques,” she said.
Laise said that the cost for an appraisal of one item will be $10, or three items for $25. She also said that appraisals will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“Based on how busy we are, we may have to limit the number of items being evaluated,” Laise said. “If people who want to bring items in are curious about how busy we are, we encourage them to call in first.”
The fair will be held from from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Laise said that if large items are brought in to be appraised, people are encouraged to leave those items in their vehicles and Perry look at them there.
Aside from the fair, the Belle Grove Manor House will be open for self-guided tours today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admissions for the tours will be $5 for ages 12 and up. Visitors who bring items to the fair and one guest won’t be charged for additional admission.
