EDINBURG — Doogie, a 5-year-old short-haired domestic cat, is looking for a home.
Emily Gochenour, who serves as a caretaker at the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter, said Doogie was brought into the shelter at the beginning of October as a stray.
“[Doogie] is very calm and easy-going,” Gochenour said. “He wants a lot of love.”
Gochenour said Doogie’s relationship with people seems to be good and that he’s good around other animals and kids as long as they give him his space.
“If somebody does adopt [Doogie], he needs to take time to get used to a new environment,” Gochenour said. “Once he’s used to his new home, you’ll never notice he’s around unless he wants attention or food. He’s very quiet.”
Gochenour recommended an owner who is looking for a cat who is an inside and an outside cat.
“When Doogie was brought in, he was very used to being inside and outside,” she said.
Doogie is up to date on his shots and has been neutered. Gochenour said that he has no health-related issues.
“If you adopt [Doogie], get ready for a cat who is very loveable,” she said.
The adoption fee for Doogie is $15.
