WINCHESTER — Nahla has been with the Winchester SPCA for two months, after spending around a year at the Frederick County Esther Boyd Animal Shelter.
Billie Guidry, an adoption agent at the Winchester SPCA, is hoping that Nahla’s playful personality and some incentives can finally land the 8-year-old pit mix a home.
Guidry said that Nahla loves to play fetch and is an affectionate dog who loves to lean against people who are sitting down. She said that the struggle the Frederick County Animal Shelter had — and the struggle the Winchester SPCA is having — trying to find a suitable home for Nahla comes as a bit of a surprise.
“[The Frederick County Animal Shelter] had a difficult time adopting her out, and I’m not sure why,” Guidry said. “Such a great dog, super sweet.”
Guidry said that Nahla made her way to the Winchester SPCA because the Winchester SPCA is a no-kill shelter. The shelter had room for Nahla and was able to rescue her.
“We’re going to keep her until somebody comes to take her,” Guidry said.
Nahla’s adoption fee is $30, the rate the Winchester SPCA charges for more senior dogs. Meanwhile, Next Home Realty in Winchester donated a $25 gift card to the Winchester Aquarium to whoever adopts Nahla.
Guidry said that the dog is the best fit for a couple with older kids or with no kids. And Nahla does not get along with other animals.
“She wasn’t really introduced to cats or dogs, and she’s not into it,” Guidry said.
But other than that, Guidry said the dog is playful and friendly.
She is healthy, has been microchipped, vaccinated and spayed.
