Thalia, a German shepherd-hound mix, is having a hard time finding a long-term home. The hyperactive 2-year-old came to the SPCA of Winchester in July and has bounced around since then.
Katlyn Himelright has been volunteering and working with the SPCA for six years. She said Thalia is a sweet dog who is good with everyone, as long as they are ready for her energy.
“She is a great dog. She is good with most dogs. She is good with most kids, and kids she’s amazing with,” Himelright said. “She’s a good girl.”
Thalia isn’t house trained. Himelright said she thinks that has to do with Thalia’s time in and out of the kennel. Thalia is still young and hasn’t had the stability of a home, so Himelright said no one has had time to train her.
“I’m sure once she gets a home and she finds somebody ready to teach her, she’ll be good,” she said.
The adoption fee for Thalia is $95. She is spayed and up to date on all of her vaccinations.
Himelright said Thalia is excited and hyper but also likes to just sit with you once she’s tired out. One especially effective method is to take her swimming.
“She loves water, absolutely loves water,” Himelright said. “We had a volunteer that came and walked her and she pulled her into the stream.”
