Raisin Cookies

2 c. raisins
1 c. boiling water
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. cloves
¼ tsp. nutmeg
1 c. chopped nuts

Add boiling water to raisins and cook for 5 mins. Cool. Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until fluffy. Add cooled raisins to creamed mixture and mix thoroughly. Add dry ingredients and chopped nuts. Blend well into mixture. Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 mins. at 350 degrees.
