A young entrepreneur is bringing together some Shenandoah County traditions in a business that opened this week on King Street in Strasburg.
Nick Crabill has opened Shenandoah Natural Products at West King Street, in between Siblings’ Rivalry Brewery and Something Purple.
“This is carrying on valley traditions. This is trying to bring together a food experience that brings together the Shenandoah Valley with love,” Crabill said, “It’s an awesome little space there.”
Crabill’s grandfather Eugene Crabill started Crabill Meats in the 1960s.
Nick Crabill, a butcher in the family business, started the Shenandoah Spice Company 12 years ago with his friend chef Josh Burrows. The spice company back then offered three blends; the Steak Seasoning, the Dry Rub, and Riverview Blend – a seasoning of onion, garlic, and salt.
Crabill decided to test the waters by opening up a retail storefront on his own that features both businesses.
“This brings together all the things I have known all my life,” Crabill said.
He added that he s grateful for the support of his family and friends.
Shenandoah Natural Products will feature all 40-plus blends of spices offered by the Shenandoah Spice Company, including favorites like the Bread Dipping Spice, which is added to olive oil; Island Jerk; Steak Seasoning and Farmers Market Blend, which is good on vegetables, Crabill said.
The shop will offer Crabill meats cattle and choice beef including sausage, jerky, steaks, and burgers. There will be natural feed and organic chicken from Shenandoah Valley Organic. The shop will also offer other natural products, such as honey from the valley.
