Yessica Acosta has always dreamed of selling her homemade food. Today, her dream becomes reality with the grand opening of Yeica’s Kitchen in Strasburg.
“When I was a child, I would play like I was selling my own food,” Acosta said. “I always had this dream…so right now I see it coming true.”
Acosta is opening her restaurant with her husband after getting encouragement from her church. She went from playing chef as a child in the Dominican Republic to cooking for her friends. Now she is introducing Strasburg to some tropical tastes.
Yeica’s Kitchen will specialize in tropical foods, Acosta said. Hungry diners can expect flavors of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico to excite their palates.
Saturday’s grand opening will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and live music. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every order comes with a free drink, Acosta said.
Acosta doesn’t have any previous experience with running a restaurant but is excited for what’s ahead. She started thinking about launching a restaurant seven years ago and she is seeing her hard work come to fruition.
“For me, it’s a dream come true,” she said. “to see this come true is going to be everything to me.”
