STRASBURG – A domestic dispute landed a man in jail after his wife sought answers regarding an affair, according to a criminal complaint by Strasburg police officer Laura Bridges.
Roland David Jones Jr., 42, of the 80 block of Stuart Court, was charged on one felony count of strangulation causing wounding or injury and on one misdemeanor count of assault against a family member.
Police Chief Wayne Sager said over the phone that an officer was dispatched Sept. 26 to the 80 block of Stuart Court in response to a domestic dispute between Jones and his wife.
A criminal complaint by Bridges states that two witnesses saw Jones place “his right hand on the victim’s shoulder in an aggressive manner” and pulled her toward him. The witnesses and victim told police that Jones also “threw items” after grabbing her shoulder.
Sager said the incident stemmed from “some sort of verbal altercation.” While Bridges was on the scene, Sager said, the victim also reported another incident that occurred earlier this month that resulted in the felony strangulation charge.
The criminal complaint states that the victim told police that on Sept. 8 she “asked Roland why he was cheating.” The complaint states that Jones then “approached her, grabbed the base of her neck with his right hand and slammed her onto a bed.”
The complaint states that the victim said Jones “continuously held her by the base of her neck causing her to be unable to breathe for approximately 15 seconds,” which resulted in bruising.
Sager said that the victim was not transported to the hospital for treatment.
Jones was released on bond and is due 9 a.m. Oct. 11 in Shenandoah County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
