WOODSTOCK — The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Basye woman Wednesday after investigating an accusation that she severely assaulted another woman.
After being transported to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, the victim told deputies that Breaunna Dawn Anderson-Hinkle, 19, attacked her earlier in the day and caused “severe bruising and swelling to her face and head,” the criminal complaint states. The complaint also notes that the victim’s lips, nose and eyes were bloodied.
The victim said that she received a text message from her ex-boyfriend, a juvenile, and he picked her up to take her to Walmart, the complaint alleges. While driving he went down a back road and said he needed to pull over and urinate, and when he stopped the vehicle, the complaint alleges, Anderson-Hinkle exited the trunk of the vehicle where she had been hiding and confronted the victim.
Anderson-Hinkle then struck the victim in the face, the complaint states, and when the victim got out of the car, Anderson-Hinkle continued striking the victim, “knocking her to the ground.” The complaint says that Anderson-Hinkle then kicked the victim in the face and strangled her “until she started to see stars,” and continued punching the victim after letting go. The victim was stranded and unaware of where she was when she called 911 for help. She was transported to the hospital once she was located.
Deputies arrested Anderson-Hinkle and charged her with malicious wounding, strangulation of another, assault and battery and conspiracy to commit a felony. Anderson-Hinkle is being held without bond at Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail as she awaits her next hearing date, which has been set for today in Shenandoah County General District Court.
