Warren County battles 3 house fires in 3 days

A Larkin Ridge Road house was declared a complete loss after a Monday afternoon fire, according to Fire Marshal Gerry Maiatico.

A Larkin Ridge Road house in Front Royal was declared a complete loss after a Monday afternoon fire, according to Fire Marshal Gerry Maiatico.

Fire Chief Richard Mabie said the Monday fire capped off a busy weekend for rescue units that included a Saturday evening fire at 407 E. Prospect St. and a Sunday fire at 142 W. Main St.

Maiatico said units were dispatched at 12:20 p.m. Monday to 119 Larkin Ridge Road in response to a house fire. He said no one was home, but the residents’ two pets had not been located. He declined to reveal the homeowner’s identity.

According to Warren County’s GIS system, the house is owned by Daniel and Elaine Carrier and is valued at $412,000. Without looking at the GIS, Maiatico estimated that the fire caused $600,000 in damages, including contents.

West Main Street fire

Mabie said the West Main Street fire stemmed from a juvenile playing with a lighter in a bed.  He added that the report regarding the incident was not yet complete, but a bedroom “was gutted,” and smoke rose to the second floor.
