A 28-year-old Frederick County man died early Thursday morning after being ejected from a motorcycle he was driving while under the influence of alcohol, according to Sgt. F. “Les” Tyler of the state police.

Jonathan Maurice Armitage, 28, was northbound on a 2006 Honda motorcycle near Interstate 81 mile marker 310 in Frederick County at about 12:47 a.m. Tyler said Armitage was speeding at an unknown rate over the speed limit when he ran into the back of a 2000 Chevy SUV.

Tyler said Armitage was ejected from the motorcycle and died on the scene.

A subsequent investigation by state police trooper J.M. Myers revealed that Armitage was under the influence of alcohol, Tyler said.

Tyler said he does not know Armitage’s blood alcohol content, and he did not have any information regarding the driver or occupants of the Chevy SUV.
