Woodstock police arrest three after reported shoplifting incident

Justin Dunmore

Woodstock police arrested three individuals after they were found with a stolen car at a gas station hours after they are alleged to have shoplifted from that town’s Walmart.

At about 2 p.m. Sunday, Walmart employees reported three individuals in the store had shoplifted $750 in camping related equipment. The employees gave a description of the three and the blue Hyundai Sonata car they were seen leaving in, said Woodstock Police Chief Eric Reiley. Photos of the suspects were circulated among police. Woodstock Police Officer Cole Brandon saw a car at the Sheetz gas station at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday that matched the description of the car seen during the shoplifting incident, Reiley said.

The car had been reported stolen from Prince William County, he said.

Brandon found Justin Dunmore, 20, Malcolm Monts, 20, and Seeairra Jahnke, 19, sitting inside the Sheetz store, Reiley said. The addresses of all three were unclear.

Dunmore attempted to run out of the store but was caught by Officer Ben DeMay. Dunmore and Monts then attempted to provide false names to police, Reiley said. He added that three three face grand larceny charges as well as possession of stolen property and possession of a stolen vehicle, Reiley said.

Dunmore and Monts also face a charge of providing a false name. Dunmore also face charges of obstruction of justice for running from officers and driving with a suspended license, Reiley said.
