Middletown wants residents to show off their houses this holiday season.

The town is holding its Middletown’s Christmas Celebration 3rd Annual House Decorating Contest.

The town hosts similar decorating contests for other holidays including the Fourth of July.

“We want these houses decorated, not only for our residents but for visitors of our parades. We want to create an environment of Americana,” Mayor Charles Harbaugh said.

The town will be holding its tree lighting ceremony at 4:45 p.m. Friday, and its Christmas Parade at 2 p.m. Dec. 2.

“We have three events scheduled that are really special. I do love this time of year,” Harbaugh said.

Entries will be judged on overall appearance, creativity, and originality. There is no entry fee. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. Nov. 30.  Judging of the outside appearance of the homes will take place from 5-8:30 p.m. the next day.

Results will be posted on the town website on Dec. 5.

The first place winner wins $100, second place wins $50 and third place wins $25.
