The freshman posted the area’s top ERA (1.50) among qualified pitchers and had 29 strikeouts in 28 innings pitched. Curl, a second team All-Northwestern District pick as a utility player, also hit .278 with a homer and six RBIs for the Wildcats.

Justin Day, Strasburg

Pitcher

The senior was 4-0 with a 2.10 ERA and led the area with 50 strikeouts in 26⅔ innings pitched. Day, who also hit .381 for the Rams, was a second team All-Bull Run District pick as a designated hitter and pitcher.

Brayden Hovatter, Stonewall Jackson

Pitcher

The senior posted a 4-2 record on the mound and ranked second among area pitchers in ERA (1.83) and strikeouts (38) while tossing 30⅔ innings. Hovatter was a second team All-Bull Run District selection as a pitcher.

Joey McNamera, Stonewall Jackson

Catcher

The sophomore batted .333 with two doubles and three RBIs and played error free in 13 games behind the plate. McNamera was a second-team selection on the All-Bull Run District team.

Patchrick Kennedy, Strasburg

First base

The senior ranked among the top three in the area in doubles (four) and triples (two) and tied for the team lead with nine RBIs, a total that also ranked fourth among area ballplayers.

Brayden Hovatter, Stonewall Jackson

Second base

The senior led the area in batting average (.511), hits (24), doubles (5), triples (2), runs scored (2) and stolen bases (16). Hovatter, who hit safely in 12 of 13 games, was a first-team second baseman on both the All-Bull Run District and All-Region 2B teams.

Collin Reynolds, Strasburg

Third base

The senior finished the season with three doubles, five RBIs, seven runs scored and six stolen bases. Reynolds was a first team All-Bull Run District selection and a second team All-Region 2B pick.

Dawson Moomaw, Stonewall Jackson

Shortstop

The junior batted .349 with a homer and two doubles and tied for second in the area with 15 RBIs in the Generals’ 13 games. Moomaw was a second team selection on the All-Bull Run District team.

Logan Maiatico, Skyline

Outfield

The senior, playing his first season of high school baseball, was solid defensively in center field, where he committed just one error. Maiatico was a second team All-Northwestern District selection and batted .286 with three RBIs in limited opportunities at the plate.

Brandon Martin, Strasburg

Outfield

The senior posted a .390 batting average — the third-best mark in the area — and tied for the area lead in doubles (five). Martin, who had eight RBIs and scored 10 runs, was a first team selection on the All-Bull Run District and All-Region 2B teams.

Brayden Smith, Stonewall Jackson

Outfield

The junior batted .333 with a double, triple, four RBIs and six runs scored in 12 games played. Smith was a second-team selection on the All-Bull Run District team.

Austin Ritchie, Stonewall Jackson

Designated hitter

The senior, who was limited to eight games due to injury, hit .391 — the area’s second-best mark — with two doubles, a triple, seven RBIs and five runs scored. Ritchie was voted to the first team as a DH on both the All-Bull Run District and All-Region 2B teams.

Jaden Click, Stonewall Jackson

At-large

The junior hit .381 — good for fourth-best in the area — and was the area’s RBI leader with 16 in 13 games played for the Generals. Click, who also pitched 22⅔ innings — second-most on the team — this past season, was a first team at-large selection on the All-Bull Run District and All-Region 2B teams.

Tanner Jenkins, Strasburg

At-large

The junior hit .375 with nine runs scored and five stolen bases and tossed 19⅔ innings while posting a 4.63 ERA. Jenkins was a first team at-large selection on the All-Bull Run District and All-Region 2B teams.

Brady Kibler, Stonewall Jackson

Coach of the Year

In his first full season at the helm, the second-year head coach led the Generals to a spot in the four-team Region 2B tournament and a 7-6 overall record. Stonewall won seven of its first 10 games to open the season.
