Logan Bailey, Skyline

Hurdles/jumps/sprints

The junior placed third at the Class 3 State Championships in both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Bailey was a Class 3 Northwestern District champ in both events, won a Region 3B title in the 110 hurdles and was part of the Hawks’ 4x100 relay that won district and regional titles and placed second in the state.

James Bland, Central

Hurdles

The sophomore was the Class 3 Northwestern District and Region 3B runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Bland placed third in the 110 hurdles at the regional championships and qualified for the state meet in the event.

Bronson Breen, Skyline

Sprints

The junior was the Northwestern District and Region 3B runner-up in the 400-meter dash and was a part of the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, both of which won district and regional titles. Breen also helped the 4x400 relay team to second place in the state meet.

Zach Dysart, Central

Throws

The junior was the Northwestern District champ in the shot put and discus, was third in the shot put at the Region 3B meet and earned a medal at the Class 3 State Championships with a seventh-place finish in the event.

William Fletcher, Sherando

Throws

The senior was the Class 4 Northwestern District runner-up in the shot put, placed fourth in the event at the Region 4C meet and earned a medal with an eighth-place effort in the shot at the Class 4 State Championships.

Marion Haley, Skyline

Sprints/jumps

The senior won Northwestern District and Region 3B titles in the 100-meter dash, was a district champ in the high jump and qualified for the state meet in three individual events. Haley also ran on the Hawks’ successful 4x100 relay team.

Jamar Lonas, Stonewall Jackson

Hurdles/sprints

The junior was fourth in both the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles at the Region 2B meet and placed ninth in the 110 hurdles at the Class 2 State Championships, one spot shy of a medal. Lonas also ran on the Generals’ 4x400 relay that was third in the region and sixth in the state.

Logan Maiatico, Skyline

Sprints

The senior competed on both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, both of which won championships at the Northwestern District and Region 3B meets. Both relays also placed second at the Class 3 State Championships.

Kevin Mills, Skyline

Sprints

The junior was the Northwestern District champ in the 400-meter dash and missed state qualification in the event by one spot at the regional meet. Mills also competed on the Hawks’ 4x400 relay team.

William Smith, Skyline

Hurdles/sprints

The junior was the Region 3B runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles and missed a medal in the state meet by one spot. Smith placed third in the region championships in the 300 hurdles, ran in the 4x400 relay throughout the postseason and in the 4x100 relay at the state meet.

Emil Stanford, Warren County

Distance

The freshman placed third in the Region 3B Championships in the 3,200-meter run and placed 10th in the event at the Class 3 State Championships. Stanford placed third in the Northwestern District meet in the 800 and 1,600 and placed fifth in the region in the 1,600.

Zach Wine, Stonewall Jackson

Mid-distance/jumps

The senior placed third at the Region 2B Championships in the 800 and missed earning a medal at the Class 2 State Championships by one spot. Wine was the Bull Run District champ in the triple jump and was part of the Generals’ 4x400 relay.

Steve Burton, Skyline

Coach of the Year

Burton guided the Hawks to a team title at the Class 3 Northwestern District Championships and a runner-up finish at the Region 3B Championships. Skyline placed eighth at the Class 3 State Championships.
