Luther and Betty Foster
Betty and Luther Foster Jr. celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary April 17.
The couple were married April 17, 1949, in Amarillo, Texas.
Betty Foster, originally from Amarillo, had a 23-year career with the federal government in Washington, D.C., where she received a bronze medal for commendable service.
Luther Foster lettered in football at Warren County High School in Front Royal. He pastored Assemblies of God churches during and after college in Forreston, Quitaque and Paducah, Texas. Later, he began a teaching career in Luray and later in Loudoun County.
The couple have three sons, Luther (Butch) O. Foster III, Gary L. Foster and Ronald D. Foster.
After taking early retirements to a farm in south Virginia, the couple pioneered a church in Powhatan. Four years later, they moved back to Texas and joined the MAPS RV ministry and began traveling as volunteers. They now live in Berryville.
