Warren County authorities are investigating an explosion at a home in Linden where they found a man deceased.
The Warren County Department of Fire and Rescue Services and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to an explosion at a single-family home on Northern Spy Drive, Linden, at approximately 3:44 a.m. Friday, according to a media release issued Friday afternoon.
Firefighters and deputies arrived on the scene to find the home destroyed by an apparent explosion. Firefighters found the body of a middle-aged man who they determined had lived at the home.
Authorities are withholding the man's name pending notification of the family. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner had not determined the exact cause of death as of 8 a.m. Friday, the release states.
Deputies helped Fire Marshal Gerry R. Maiatico to secure the scene. The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the explosion.
The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division and the Front Royal Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit joined the fire investigators in the joint investigation. Authorities also requested the help of K-9s trained to detect explosives.
