The holiday season has arrived at Belle Grove Plantation.
The plantation will hold its annual holiday tours through Dec. 30. Kristen Laise, executive director of the plantation, said this year’s theme for the tours will focus on former owners of the plantation.
“This year we chose a historical theme, highlighting the past inhabitants of the Belle Grove Manor House from the 1790s through the 1960s,” Laise said.
Laise said that 10 garden clubs, including the Shenandoah Garden Club of Woodstock and Middletown Garden Club, helped deck out the manor house for the holiday season. Each room in the house will feature information and photos about several of Belle Grove’s owners.
“The garden clubs have amazed us again with their creativity and attention to detail. There is something unique to discover in each room,” she said.
Guided tours will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday through Dec. 30.
The plantation will also host “Christmas by Candlelight,” which will be self-guided night tours with music, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Laise said that five musical groups, including Winchester Celtic Circle, harpist Allen Dec, and John Tole of Evergreen Shade, will be playing during the night tours.
Tickets for the tours will be $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 6 to 16. Tickets can be purchased at the admissions desk in the manor house.
