The Belle Grove Plantation will open its doors for the 2019 season on Saturday.
To celebrate opening day, Belle Grove will be offering free tours of the manor house tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour lasts one hour and will be offered at 15 and 45 minutes past each hour, with the first tour beginning at 10:15 a.m. and the last tour beginning at 3:15 p.m.
“Belle Grove is delighted to welcome visitors for our 52nd year as a museum,” said Kristen Laise, executive director at Belle Grove. ”Our property is the perfect place to observe the coming of spring, and we are excited about all the positive changes and great events we have planned for 2019.”
Throughout 2019, the plantation’s manor house will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. on Sundays. Starting Nov. 1, the plantation will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. on Sundays.
Belle Grove’s annual Christmas tours will begin Dec. 6 and run through Dec. 30. Tours will take place Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sundays from 1-5 p.m.
Belle Grove will host various events throughout the year, including the “Of Ale and History’ beer fest on May 11, the Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardner’s Association Garden Fest on June 1, and Wine Fest on Aug. 24.
Belle Grove will open the Beverley B. Shoemaker Welcome Center on April 13. The facility, which will operate out of the barn near the manor house, will be home to a museum shop, exhibits and special events.
