Belle Grove Plantation will host its annual Park Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Park Day is the one day of the year when volunteers help with landscaping projects around the plantation. This year, projects will include fence repair and painting, pruning, weeding, raking, and other light gardening projects.

“This is a great opportunity to get Belle Grove looking its best for spring, especially as we prepare to debut the Beverley B. Shoemaker Welcome Center in the 1918 Bank Barn,” said Kristen Laise, executive director of Belle Grove.

Volunteers are not required to work the full six hours to take part. Water and snacks will be provided, and volunteers may bring a picnic lunch. Volunteers should wear work clothes and bring gloves and optional tools like paint scrapers and other gardening utensils.

Park Day is a rain or shine event. This project is not suitable for children under 8 years old and all minors must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or other responsible adult. The first 20 volunteers will receive a complimentary Park Day 2019 T-shirt, and all volunteers will receive a free pass for complementary admission for a future visit to Belle Grove.

Pre-registration is not required, but those who are considering attending, are asked to fill out the online form at https://tinyurl.com/y4soqyo6 in case participants need to be contacted with further information.
