Christine Kriz, director of the Lord Fairfax Small Business Development Center in Middletown, has been named state director of the year by the America’s Small Business Development Center. She will travel to the national conference being held Sept. 3-6 in Long Beach, California. Each state has one winner who is chosen based on the success of the center and votes from team members and state colleagues.
Kriz has been director of the Lord Fairfax Small Business Development Center for three years. The center provides one-on-one private consulting to over 360 small business owners per year in eight counties and the City of Winchester. An additional 500-plus people are reached via free business training seminars each year, according to a news release.
Last year, the center helped put over $7.5 million dollars back into the economy and helped to start over 19 new businesses with over 100 new jobs created, the release states.
The Lord Fairfax SBDC is supported by the Small Business Administration, Lord Fairfax Community College and the Economic Development Authorities of Frederick, Clarke, Shenandoah, Fauquier and Culpeper counties and the City of Winchester. Information: 540-868-7094 and www.lfsbdc.org.
