Shenandoah County Chamber of Commerce will hold a program from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at Triplett Tech on the Lean Canvas method, which offers a system for entrepreneurs or existing business owners to examine a business idea and improve its chances for long-term growth.
The workshop will be led by Dale Fickett, of RVA Works, in partnership with the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development’s Main Street Program and the Town of Strasburg.

The Shenandoah County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a program for new business owners from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 25 at the County Government Center in Woodstock.
Experts from the Lord Fairfax Small Business Development Center, Shenandoah County Economic Development, banks, insurance agents and accountants will be on hand to answer questions about structuring a business, specific action items to open a business and how to develop a business plan.
Katie McIntyre Tewell and Brian Bogart have been named to the Board of Trustees at Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal.
• Tewell, of Front Royal, is a 1997 graduate of R-MA and holds a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism management from James Madison University. She is chief operating officer at The Apple House Restaurant & Gift Shop, including the Fork’d food truck, Bushel Pub and IC Cream LLC. She serves on the executive board of the Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, Front Royal Rotary Club, Blue Ridge Arts Council and the Tourism Committee for Front Royal-Warren County. She was named the chamber’s Citizen of the Year and co-named the Community Foundation of the Northern Shenandoah Valley’s Shining Star with her father, George McIntyre, R-MA class of 1969.
• Bogart, of Vienna, is the Principal of Bogart Wealth, an investment management firm. He has appeared as a guest on CBS Morning News’ Mind Over Money, as the host of The Prudent Investor on WPGC business radio and presents a series of seminars for top executives at Fortune 500 companies around the country. Bogart holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Virginia McIntyre School of Commerce/Accounting, and a master’s degree in financial management from National University.
