Azimullah Habibi, 31, of Sacramento, California, was charged with a count of reckless driving Wednesday after wrecking his tractor-trailer in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 81, according to a news release from the Virginia State Police.
The release states that Habibi was traveling northbound about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday near the 271.2-mile marker when his 2014 Volvo tractor-trailer ran off the road’s right side. The release states that Habibi then over-corrected, which caused the vehicle to “strike the guard rail and run down the embankment.” He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, according to the release.
State police were assisted by Mount Jackson Fire and Rescue, the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office, New Market Fire and Rescue and the Virginia Department of Transportation, according to the release.
State police Trooper E.M. Meyers is investigating the incident, the release states.
