WOODSTOCK — The trial for the former executive director of a Woodstock-based childcare facility will be held next year.
Jamie Jill Pence, of Edinburg, is due in Shenandoah County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. April 26 for a four-day trial. She is charged with cruelty/injury to a child and failure to report child abuse.
The trial date was chosen on Monday, according to the clerk’s office, based on availability of the court, which faces a backlog of cases that were delayed by the pandemic.
The charges stem from a Pollywog Place employee reporting in October 2019 the alleged physical abuse of a preschooler by Kate LeDane, a former Pollywog teacher.
LeDane, of Edinburg, is charged with four felony counts of child endangerment and two misdemeanor counts of assault and battery. She is represented by attorney Ryan Nuzzo, and is due in Shenandoah County Circuit Court for a 1 p.m. Oct. 6 hearing.
Both Pence and LeDane are released on bond.
