Shenandoah County will lose another staple business when CC Rosen and Son closes its doors on Friday.

Jim Rosen, the manager of the tire store in New Market, said the buyer of the Mount Crawford store wasn’t interested in purchasing the New Market store as well, forcing them to close.

“The people that wanted to buy the other one didn’t want to buy this one,” Rosen said in a phone call on Monday. “We had another person that was interested in this one but he said there was too much competition.”

Rosen, who has been selling tires in New Market for 46 years, said the building is for sale or lease.

About 10 people will be left out of work when the store closes, Rosen said. There are some opportunities for employees to transfer to the Mount Crawford store, he said. Interested employees will travel to Mount Crawford for interviews today.

“Some of them are interested,” Rosen said. “Some aren’t.”

“We’ve got a lot of good customers,” Rosen continued. “We hate to leave them high and dry, but sometimes things don’t work out better than what you want to.”
