American Legion Hassler-Sutphin Post 166 in New Market will host a ribeye steak dinner from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the post home, 202 Old Cross Road. Dinners, which include sides, dessert and drink, are $15. 


Mount Jackson Rescue & Fire will host a breakfast from 7-11 a.m. Saturday. Santa will also be there to greet children. Breakfast is a free-will offering and $8 for takeouts.

The SPCA of Winchester, Frederick and Clark will host a free pet adoption event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Subaru of Winchester, as part of its Share the Love event at 3019 Valley Ave.

Reliance United Methodist Church will hold a pancake breakfast from 7-11 a.m. Dec. 14 at 1571 Reliance Road. The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for ages 6-12 and free for children under 5.

Christmas celebration

The Town of New Market will celebrate Christmas with open houses, artisan vendors at the Open Market and music starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The holiday parade will begin at 5 p.m. followed by a tree-lighting ceremony and annual cookie social. Santa will also be at the New Market Area Library.
