Chili cook-off

Monday is the deadline to enter the Mount Jackson Hometown Partnership’s chili cook-off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 23 at the Town Hall.

Age divisions are 18 and over, youth 12 to 17 and junior for ages under 12. Other activities include craft/food vendors and music by Tim Ambrose, The Rinard Family and Seven Bends Band.

The Shenandoah County Library in Edinburg will celebrate Women's History Month with a program on local women in elected positions at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Featured will be Woodstock Vice Mayor Jackie Lambert and Strasburg Town Councilwoman Emily Reynolds.


Samuels Public Library will host Science Scouts at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for ages 6 to 11. The program will be on dissecting a flower.


The Shenandoah County Extension Office will host a pesticide applicator certification preparation course at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Mount Jackson Fire Hall. Preregistration required by calling 540-459-6140.

Samuels Public Library in Front Royal will host the Books and Beyond Book Club at 10 a.m. Wednesday. “The Blood of Emmett Till” by Timothy B. Tyson will be discussed.

Resource Center

The Women’s Resource Center will host a Women Gathering event with guest speaker Robin Schroeder at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at 213 E. Main St., Front Royal.
