Golf tournament

The Warren County Educational Endowment will host a golf tournament Wednesday at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal.

The tournament will include a catered lunch at 11:30 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.

The cost to enter a team of four is $300 or $180 if all four teammates are members of the golf club. Sponsorships are available. Information: Connie Oden at 540-305-1108 or


Strasburg High School Musical Theatre will present the murder mystery musical “The Assassination of Jessamine Sinclair” at 7 p.m. Thursday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.

Special appearances by local celebrities: Strasburg High School assistant principal Derek Ritenour on Thursday, Strasburg Mayor Rich Orndorff on Saturday, and Shenandoah County Public School Superintendent Mark Johnston on Sunday.

• Edinburg VFW Post 2447 will host a Mother's Day dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. The dinner will feature a choice of a 12-ounce ribeye or a pound of shrimp for $16 or steak and shrimp for $20.

• A steak dinner, to raise funds for the Triplett Tech SkillsUSA team to attend Nationals, will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the school in Mount Jackson. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Door prizes. Information, tickets: 540-477-3161.

Noon Music

The Davis Bradley Duo will close out this season of the Little Noon Music program from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Bowman Library in Stephens City.

School news

The Randolph-Macon Academy ROTC Yellow Jackets drill team took its second first-place championship in the Virginia Air Force Association JROTC state drill championship meet on April 27 at Atlee High School.

The Armed Exhibition team and Color Guard team both took first place; Armed Regulation took second, Inspection came in third, Unarmed Exhibition claimed fourth and Unarmed Regulation took fifth. The R-MA drill team is led by TSgt Tina Laing, USAF retired.
