Five Shenandoah County students competed against 23 other school divisions to earn a position with the junior regional orchestra. They are:

• Senior orchestra (grades 9-12): Sierra Rickard, violin, and Raegan Fisher, bass, both of Strasburg High School.

• Junior orchestra (grades 7-9): Emma Steiner, violin, of Signal Knob Middle School; Mia Dodson, viola, of Strasburg High School; Emma Davis, bass, of North Fork Middle School.


James Robert Clark is the recipient of this year’s Marge Moyers Memorial Scholarship.

The award, given by the Shenandoah Education Foundation, was presented by Moyers’ daughter, Jill Moyers Bush.

James, a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, is the son of Robert and Sharon Clark, of Mount Jackson. He plans to attend Bridgewater College to study history, social sciences and secondary education.

Marge Moyers, a resident of New Market, was a Shenandoah County teacher for many years and a member of the County School Board.
