Animal shelter

Betsy Ross will be available soon to adopt at the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter. She is 4 weeks old, has learned to use a litter box and loves to play. The shelter is located at 268 Landfill Road, Edinburg. Information: email or call 540-984-8955.

Front Royal

The Town of Front Royal’s business office lobby and finance department will reopen to the public beginning Tuesday. The drive-thru will resume its use for payments only at that time.

All other departments will be open by appointment only.

The town is now accepting special event permit applications. Applications may be picked up by appointment at the town manager’s office.

Shenandoah County Public Schools has announced recipients of the 2020 Mary Ellen and Donald D. Starnes Educational Trust. They are:

• Stonewall Jackson High School: Tehonesty Clayborne, of New Market.

• Central High School: Jake Orndorff, of Maurertown, and Olivia Meadows, of Edinburg.

• Strasburg High School: Pamela Long, of Strasburg.

• Triplett Tech: Hunter Neff, of Toms Brook, and Bridget Holsinger, of Edinburg.

Students are nominated by school staff and administrators on the basis of academic progress, employability skills and citizenship. They were each awarded $500.
