Weigh-in and tagging for 4-H/FFA sheep, swine and goats participating in this year’s Shenandoah County Fair will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday at the county fairgrounds in Woodstock. Information: 540-459-6140.

Mount Jackson United Methodist Church will hold an indoor lawn party starting 4 p.m. Saturday. Information: 540-477-2128.

Aileen reunion

The annual reunion of former Aileen employees will be held 4:30 p.m. Saturday at W.O. Riley Park, Rotary Shelter, Woodstock.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and drink (no alcohol). Dinnerware furnished. Held rain or shine. Information: 540-459-2556.

Pig roast

Maurertown Brethren Church will hold a pig roast starting 4 p.m. Saturday. A free-will offering will be accepted. Carry-outs available for $10 and homemade ice cream is extra. Music by Lion of Judah. Proceeds benefit Bread of Life Food Pantry.

Yard/bake sale

Millwood United Methodist Church will hold a yard and bake sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 700 Bishop Meade Road, Millwood. Held rain or shine. Proceeds benefit church ministries.

College news

Nathan James Heishman Goodlin was named to the dean’s list at Bridgewater College for the spring term. He is majoring in history and political science. He is the son of Gary and Kim Goodlin of Leesburg and the grandson of Richard and Charlotte Heishman of Edinburg.

Scholarships

The Rotary Club of Front Royal awarded three $7,000 scholarships May 24 during its meeting at the Warren County Community Center. Recipients are:

• Destiny Austin, a senior at Skyline High School, plans to major in nursing at Radford University in the fall. She has been captain of the school’s cheer team and competition cheer team.

• Kaley Foulks, a senior at Warren County High School, plans to attend the School of Engineering and Honors College at Virginia Tech in the fall. She has been captain of the school’s soccer and volleyball teams and helped take the volleyball team to the state tournament the last two years. She volunteers with the Humane Society, Day of Caring, Hands Against Hunger and Interact.

• Lauren Fox, a senior at Warren County High School, plans to major in business at Virginia Tech in the fall. She helped take the school’s volleyball team to the state tournament and has been involved in Interact and the National Honor Society. She participated in the Rotary Youth Exchange program, spending two months in Argentina, and hosting a student from Argentina.
